Community Open Doors Event

A free event presented as part of the national Heritage Open Days festival, in partnership with Churches Conservation Trust.

Back by popular demand, we are delighted to be hosting our third Community Open Doors event of 2024!

Come along to this free, family-friendly day in our home at St. Paul’s Church and enjoy a range of interactive activities. The workshops will be curated by celebrated local creative Norman ‘Rubba’ Stephenson and hosted by Circomedia.

Children and young people can try their hand at a range of circus skills like aerial hoop, trapeze, juggling and tightwire, in our Youth Circus Have-a-Go sessions, led by our specialist Circus Skills Instructors; play to the rhythm in group African Drumming and Dance Workshops with St. Paul’s creatives Rubba and Blaggy; and enjoy a range of other engagement activities from creatives in our local community.

Programme for the Day

9:30am – 10am – Tour of the Church with Churches Conservation Trust

10am – 11:30am – Youth Circus Have-a-Go Session

11:30am – 12:30pm – African Drumming and Dance Workshops with Rubba

1:30pm – 3pm – Youth Circus Have-a-Go Session

You can also join us at 9:30am or 12:30pm as we host two special tours of our beautiful church venue. Coined the ‘wedding cake church’ due to its uniquely structured tower, and owned by the Churches Conservation Trust, this space has been home to the Circomedia Circus school for 20 years this year! Group sizes for these tours will be limited, so please register your interest to take part when you arrive at the venue.

Our in-house Café Bar will be open throughout the day serving tea, coffee and soft drinks, and don’t forget to visit the food stall where local caterers will be serving up tasty treats at excellent prices.

Everyone is welcome – drop-in throughout the day and get involved.

Special thanks to the Triados Foundation for supporting this event.
